New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
A brand new issue just started occurring and I don't know why. I pressed the pedal, went about 4 feet, then it just suddenly died. Now when I press the pedal, the cart stutters trying to go forward or reverse. It will move just a slight bit but something is definitely jacked up and I have no idea what the problem could be or why it started.
Any ideas? Is my motor fried? It's almost like it's struggling to turn. My voltage is good. All connections are secure. I do have a lithium pack, Alltrax XCT, and 7144 motor. The Alltrax settings are set at a pretty moderate level. Going to plug my laptop into the Alltrax and see if it turns up any thing. |

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
I had a shuddering problem some time back. This may or may not help you. I pulled my motor and lots and lots of black dust. Instead of just cleaning it up And re installing I just got a new motor. That seemed to take care of things. Then about a month ago I was going up a steep hill and my cart stalled out, I turned and went around the hill. When I got home I checked my batteries and number 5 only showed 6 volts. Recharged the pack and next day after 18 holes of golf with no problem I checked that battery and it showed 8.45 volts. I went ahead and replaced the battery and the cart is running stronger than it has in a long time. Seems I had one cell in that battery that had a weak connection, under heavy load it would drop out.
You may have a weak cell in your pack? |

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
After troubleshooting, I think this definitely comes down to my Lithium pack being jacked up. I'm guessing a cell is dead or possibly the BMS is toast. The Alltrax reports that the battery charge is low (or whatever the verbiage is). When I try to connect to the BMS I am seeing errors.
I have a Nissan Leaf 48v Li battery. Anyone know anything about getting replacement cells? |

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
After much troubleshooting, I'm certain the battery pack is no longer the issue here. The low voltage seems to occur AFTER the Alltrax XCT. When I test with my handy multimeter, the +\- posts on the motor itself only give me around a 2v reading when pressing the pedal. All points before the Alltrax give me normal voltage readings.
Is testing on the motor posts and pressing the pedal an accurate test to determine if the Alltrax is the issue? |

The obvious question. Is the solenoid energizing?

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
I'm not sure how to properly test that, but when I test the + and - after the solenoid, I get 47v+ which is expected.
To test, I am touching the + on the solenoid output side, and the - on the battery - terminal. Is that the proper way to test? |

To start just listen for the loud clunk when you step on the accelerator.

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
Hmm, there's definitely not a loud clunk. The only sound I hear is the engine trying to move forward with its limited voltage. It produces a stuttering attempt at moving forward.

Re: New Problem - Cart Suddenly Stutters
Put the positive lead on the B+ connection on the battery. with the neg lead measure to both sides of the small connections on the solenoid. Press the accel and you should have 48v on one of the terminals. Plus you should feel the solenoid pull in.
