Default Cable through OBC - 2006 Precedent

As I disassembled the cart to do the battery tub conversion I couldn't help but wonder why the cable runs through the OBC.

If you keep the OBC but move to thicker gauge wires, how do they fit? I get that you can use a screw compression fitting for the terminal after passing the wire thru but would a 2 gauge wire pass thru that hole?

I'm not putting the OBC back so moot point for me but just wondering...

Still learning...

The battery cable goes thru the hole in the OBC so it can measure the charge or discharge current to the battery pack.

Yes, most do, you just have to lube it up good and pull it through (and prior to the lug being installed on the cable end....)
