Rear canopy posts on aftermarket rear seat. 2006 Precedent

Here's a zoomed out version. Like I said, I removed the rear seat assembly but it essentially bolts onto those posts about an inch above the deck, also onto the deck platform, and again via 2 brackets that are down in the rear bagwell. It is solid once all bolted together but sure as sh** those posts will eventually wiggle and chew their way thru the plastic in the bottom of those holes. I guess they can't really go anywhere once they do chew through as they will be supported via the cross bar on the seat platform but it still seems like a sh** way to leave it.

Tahoe: In the stock setup do those stock brackets hold the posts above the hole or do the posts also go down into the holes a bit while being supported by the brackets to keep them from touching in the bottom of the hole? Once together my roof looks level so it seems the posts are at the right position.

We are obviously talking about two different sets of holes. You're talking about the lower holes. I thought you were talking about the upper holes in the seat assembly module (SAM). It's very common for rear seat kits or cargo beds to have the setup like you have. I've never seen any that went so deep down into the hole that they touched any plastic, but they go into that lower hole for a reason, water draining. The top has those gutters in the back of it and any water that gets on the top of the car will drain down the tube and dump underneath the car instead of running down your back. If I were you, I'd cut them off just below the surface of the hole and bolt them back on to the seat kit like they were designed.

Thanks, Dave! I guess knocking a few inches off of them will ensure they don't chew at the plastic in the bottom. I just thought maybe something was missing from the kit install like an insert of sorts that "received" the post to keep it more secure.

If the towers that you posted in the second post in the thread would work, Is it possible they will work with the seat kit as well. That would provide further support.
