Default EZ-GO Series 98 Steering

I recently finished my 48V upgrade. The car does about 28 MPH now,
which is great, but the steering is all over the place.

The cart seems to wander at the higher speed. I have checked my toe setting
and adjusted to the recommended settings. I believe it's 1/4" - 1/8" toe in.

Are there any recommendations on how to clean up the steering?

King pins & bushings may be worn causing the "steering wonder".

I had similar issue, mine turned out to be the gear and "flat gear" in the steering rack were worn where the wheel was centered...

A rebuild kit,,,, about $ 90 fixed it right up !!

But this is a good time to check ALL of your steering AND brakes.... now that you have plenty of GO, make sure you have enough WHOA !!

Is this the rebuild kit you used?

That is it EXACTLY !!!

When I got mine apart, the teeth in the middle of the flat gear, and the section of the round gear that mated with it were worn to "sharp points" with almost no engagement !!!

Definitely an " OH -HIT" moment in the making

Mine came apart pretty easy, I have heard stories of "encouragement" required !!

Good Luck !

Yep, I've had a few of those come into the shop worn so bad the steering wheel would free-spin near center. They drove them to us. Apparently going slow & zig-zag'ing down the road.
