Default Upgrade Advice for first time owner

Hello, this is my first time posting and also 1st time owning a golf cart. I have a 2001 Ezgo 36v TXT PDS which needs new batteries. Before buying 6-6v batteries I thought I would ask some questions.

What do you this my best option and bang for the buck would be right now? I would ultimately like to upgrade the controller, batteries, and motor to 48V but I don't currently have the cash to do it all now. So should I:

*Buy 6 new batteries now and save up $ to convert everything to 48V
later?

*Buy a new alltrax controller and 7-6v batteries now? Where do you put
the 7th battery? and is the stock motor good for 42v?

* Also open to any other idea's.

Thank you,

Stock motor is great at 42v, not long life on 48v tho. Even at 36v, a Alltrax controller will gain you some speed. 42v is the sweet spot for that motor. Keep in mind you must also get a new 42v charger (no, your original charger can't be modified to do the job). And new cables and solenoid.
