Re: Need help with 36v to 48v conversion
Maybe the pop you heard was the clack of the big solenoid engaging

Re: Need help with 36v to 48v conversion
Okay so I charged it and am getting 54v. Under load I was getting around 51v near as I could tell because the solenoid pops and I get the red & green lights. So I jacked one tire up and tried it again. Turned the key and all is well. I push the petal down and the motor jumps and stutters for about two seconds before the solenoid pops again. Tire barely makes 2-3 revolutions. Thoughts?

Re: Need help with 36v to 48v conversion
Did some more testing today. I checked that there was no voltage across the small terminals until petal was pushed and solenoid clicked open. I get pack voltage when peddle is pushed. I found that if I apply just enough throttle to get the tire spinning it does just fine but when I open it up to about half throttle the motor begins to stutter and the controller shuts down blinking green and red. Any suggestions is much appreciated.

Re: Need help with 36v to 48v conversion
Unless the voltage is dropping significantly when you press the gas the install is incorrect. But I'm leaning towards a power supply problem or a loose cable connection?
PS if it does go DO NOT REV IT UP - you can blow the motor and that will be a nasty surprise. Put the voltmeter on the pack the see what the reading is when the cart is trying to go but can not. If that reading drops less than 2-3v (wheel off the ground) then move the + test lead to the controller B+ ad repeat the test. |

Re: Need help with 36v to 48v conversion
Just tested and in both scenarios I got less than a 3 volt drop. Both when the wheel was barely spinning (off the ground) and when it stutters. Also got same results when putting the + lead on the B+.

Not sure if the forward-reverse switch is wired correct. The guy I bought it from installed it. From looking at the wiring diagrams it looks like I might be wrong but I wanted your opinion first

Here’s a pic of how he wired the new forward-reverse switch. This can’t be right. But I’ll wait to see what you guys have to say before I go and make thinks worse. Lol

Anybody have a chance to look at this switch before I tear into it and really mess things up. 😬
