95 48V DS Head/Tail Light Issue
Just picked up a 95 DS that had been sitting since January at a local repair shop and the owner declined to get it running. All it needed was batteries, but to confirm this I threw 4 12V US Batteries in it just to make sure it moves until new Trojans arrive next Monday. There was a 12ga red wire connected to the 2nd battery + terminal, but no ground wire connected to the main negative. I was assuming this was for the lights and connected to the 1st + of the 12V I installed. Hit the lights and they are very dim. Voltage meter indicates i'm getting around 7.5V at each head and tail light harness.
Does this cart possibly have a 16 - 12 voltage reducer and since i'm only using 12V source it's still reducing at an equal rate? It looks like the 12ga red wire is routed down into a harness loom near the fuse box. |

Re: 95 48V DS Head/Tail Light Issue
A cart like that very likely would have a factory 16-12 reducer. It’s probably a whitish box mounted down low on the frame.
