What’s the purpose of the interlock? Do you only want power when the key is on?

The wire from the charger interlock (Reed switch) is the voltage source for the keyswitch and subsequent devices.
The purpose of the reed switch was to prevent the cart from being driven away with the charger attached. However, the reed switch was such a high failure item, often failing when the cart was out in the middle of nowhere, that EZGO stopped using it. My 2008 cart came from the factory with a small pigtail fuse instead of a reed switch. Most people just bypass the reed switch and if driving away while charger is attached is an issue for them, they loop the charger cable through the steering wheel. |
