EZGO Txt Upgrade cont
Upgraded a 2008 txt, Alltrax SR48400, 400 amp solenoid, new batteries went from 36v to 48 volt, lifted with 22 inch tires. I expected to see speed of 18mph but cart only goes 14. Batteries are fully charged. Checking the ITS I get slightly over 2 volts both at ITS and j4 j5 on controller with pedal off and solenoid engaged and goes to 3.5 volts at full throttle. Thought I should get 10v and then dropping to 5 at full throttle . Does this indicate a bad ITS?

Re: EZGO Txt Upgrade cont
Measuring between the black and white wires, you should get about 10V when pedal is pushed just far enough to make solenoid click and about 6V when pedal is on floor.
If you don't get that, check with Alltrax for what the voltage out to be between the throttle jacks (J4 & J5) on the controller with the black and white wires disconnected. ------------ When pedal is on floor, does the LED go from steady Green to steady Yellow or blinking yellow? ------------- There is a in-line connector at the end of the gray cable coming out of the pedal box that causes all sorts of throttle issues when it get corroded or gets wet. Replace it with individual butt splices (or solder joints) and waterproof the connections with marine grade shrink tubing. ---------- What was the speed with stock height (18") tires? A 2008 TXT series drive cart with stock height and stock gears has a top speed of about 14MPH. Going fro 18" tall tires to 22" tall tires will up the speed by 22.2% mathematically (to 17.1MPH), but it will also reduce the torque where rubber meets road by 18.2%, so the theoretical speed will not be reached, but should be over 16.5MPH. If your 22" tires are the low pressure type (max inflation pressure <10PSI) the top speed won't be anywhere the theoretical because low pressure tire take a lot of torque to turn. Also, measure the actual tire height with a yardstick and level. The numbers on the sidewalls are very approximate. |

JohnnieB, I did expect to see 10 volts but only 2. I will look at replacing the connector tonight. The speed before battery and controller was 14 mph. Tires are 22 inch and they are at 20 psi.
Will also check the controller programming again to make sure it is set at ITS. |

Also expected a speed increase going from 36v to 48v.

Re: EZGO Txt Upgrade cont
Controller will blink 4 green when the solenoid clicks if set to ITS
LED will go from green to orange when the controller sees a full throttle signal. Easy to check these 2 things. |

Re: EZGO Txt Upgrade cont
Let me see if I've got this correct.
Cart had 22" tires and went 14MPH with a 36V battery pack. You upgraded the battery pack to 48V and the cart still only goes 14MPH. If that is true, than something was holding the cart back when it was running on 36V. With stock height tires a stock series drive TXT does about 14MPH. Upping the tires to 22" should have upped the speed to about 17MPH Then upping the battery pack from 36V to 48V ought to have upped the 17MPH speed by about 33% to about 22MPH. It looks like whatever the problem is, it existed before the battery pack was change from 36V to 48V. |

The cart had 18 inch wheels, 36volt pack and did 14mph. Upgrade to 48 v , 22 inch tire and SR48400, 400 amp solenoid, 4 ga wire on motor and batteries . now tops out at 16mph

Quote:
Cart did 14MPH it stock conditions. Upgraded to 22" tall tires and a 48V battery pack at same time. So the cart's speed should have gone from 14MPH up to about 22MPH, but only increased to 16MPH. ITS voltages aren't within specs, but LED turns yellow at full throttle. Do you have a laptop? If so, record a data log from the SR and post it here (Zip the raw .csv file so it can be attached to a post) Slow speed is often low voltage at the motor. Also, What are the make/model of the batteries? What is the battery pack voltage 12 hours after charger shuts off? |

Re: EZGO Txt Upgrade cont
Are some of the same batteries used in the 36v mode and 48v mode... like just 2 more batteries added? If yes it is possible there are weak batteries in the pack.
