Carryall 500 Bed Liner
Hello all,
Any suggestions on a bed liner for the Carryall 500? I have seen a Rhino liner in the parts manuals, but no P/N so I am guessing that's a spray-on done at the factory. TIA |

I used Raptor liner on my whole cart and came out real nice. Very tough. My only complaint is I had to use 6 cans @ $30 a piece.

I have used a bunch of the Raptor. If you have a compressor, use the gun that comes with some of the kits. The stuff is almost idiot proof to apply. You can also get the tintable kind and tint it to whatever color you want. It does come in a couple color options already like black, white, maybe a gray. If you want to tint it, your options are unlimited. I use an on-line paint store to get my tint. Costs $13.50 for 8oz. I use 4oz per bottle of raptor. They have a good line of stock tint colors or they can custom match. They have matched some factory paint colors for me and they turned out great. Here is a shot of a can I made for a friends mancave. The color is Evening Orchid to match his '65 Impala SS. The inside of the can is sprayed with color matched Raptor.

Re: Carryall 500 Bed Liner
I have a 3/8" thick rubber mat on the bottom of my box, but it also acts as a moisture trap between the mat and the steel box and I am starting to get some rust forming.
I want to apply a bed liner in my Cushman box and I am also quite interested in what products have been working for other BGW members. I will still keep the mat in the box but want something that will address the surface rust issue. I used the Dupli-Color Bed Armor Truck Bed Liner (rolled on) on two aluminum floors of horse trailers. Despite meticulous base preparations and following application procedures, I had poor results with this product ... problems included poor curing, some peeling and unsatisfactory wear resistance. The Raptor Liner has caught my attention and I will be checking this out further. |

Re: Carryall 500 Bed Liner
You should have limited corrosion risk between a rubber mat and the aluminum box in your golf cart (ground's keepers cart ) unless you really get something nasty between the two.
Aluminum can readily corrode in the presence of most acids, some salts and a number of other chemicals. There are a number of owners of aluminum horse trailers that think that aluminum does not corrode, so they don't clean and maintain their aluminum floors ... which are most often covered by rubber mats. The problem is that horse or cattle urine gets trapped under the mats and the aluminum floors can be subjected to considerable corrosion. I have attached a photo below of some aluminum corrosion on a high quality horse trailer floor where the owner never cleaned under the rubber mats in his 7 years of ownership. The trapped urine caused some significant corrosion issues on parts of the floor ... other parts of the floor not subjected to the urine look like new. I would try using a light weight rubber mat on the bottom of your aluminum box (3/8" or less ... rubber mats 1/2" and thicker tend to be heavy to handle) . You will want to check under it occasionally to ensure you are not experiencing any corrosion. You will also want to pull it and clean underneath it a few times a year. |
