Motor disassembly to replace brushes
I'm trying to replace the brushes on my 97 txt series.
I can't get the armature off of the commutator end cover. The manual says a light tap on the commutator may be necessary to loosen. I have lightly tapped all over it. |

Re: Motor disassembly to replace brushes
I figured it out. I was able to remove brushes w/o disassembling it. I moved the brush spring and pulled it out. New is 33mm. Replace at 16mm. I'm 25mm.
What do y'all think? Its 13 yrs old. Its only down 8mm. Replace? |

Re: Motor disassembly to replace brushes
to get the armature to release from the end you have to press the armature out of the bearing.
It up to you if you want to replace. I say replace brushes as well as bearing sinc eyou have it apart. Give it a good cleaning and reinstall. |

"press the armature out of the bearing"
How do you recommend doing this? I have tried knocking it out w/ a punch, but never hit it really hard. I don't want to break anything. |
