97 ezgo wount move
I just got a 97 Ezgo for free from a freind due to financial troubles. Im a Club Car guy and im not to familiar with Ezgo's. The golf cart sat in a shed for about 3 years, i pulled it out and the batteries were fine, full of water, and they hold a charge. I fully charged the cart and checked all of the batteries and total i had around like 37 volts i think. The only problem is when i turn the key on and hit the gas pedal down nothing happens, all you hear is what sounds like one "click" of a micro switch. Also when i put the cart in reverse there is no buzzer. Im not sure if thats relevent or not. Thanks a ton guys i really appreciate the help!!!!

Re: 97 ezgo wount move
I just checked the batteries and when the cart is on and the pedal is floored the bateries are at 40.7 volts. So what does that mean? Are the bateries still shot?

Re: 97 ezgo wount move
Is this a 36V system ? (IE: 6 x 6V batteries)
If so, the 40.7v reading means they were recently taken off charge. (within a couple hours or so) When you push the pedal down slightly, you should hear the clunk of a solenoid rather than just the click of a microswitch. First we need to know what type cart it is, punch the serial number into this website and it should tell you. (If you don't know where to look for the S/N, there are pictures showing the location on the page) http://www.shopezgo.com/customer-ser...ialNumber.html You might find a service manual for it in the stickies at the top of this forum. If not, there might at least be a schematic of something similar floating around someplace. |

Re: 97 ezgo wount move
Under the passenger side seat. Under the black cover. Two bolts top and two bolts bottom holding it on.
I think you have a TXT cart with a series wound motor, but please identify the type drive from below chart and or the website previously posted. This might not be the right wiring diagram, but the solenoid activation circuit will be about the same. The key switch, Reed Switch (in charger receptacle), Microswitch(S) on F/R switch assembly and Microswitch connected to throttle all must be closed to activate the solenoid. My first step would be checking for B+ on the small red wire coming out of the charger receptacle. If you do have B+ there, just start walking down the chain of switches until you find the open. The chain ends up on one of the small terminals on the solenoid. |

Re: 97 ezgo wount move
If it's a DCS cart the controller has failed
I laugh but I would also bet that is correct. Go through the DCS diagnostics in the Stickies to see. |
