steering wheel play

So I installed the lift kit, wheels, and tires on my cart. Im very pleased with the results, however ive seem to develop alot of play in my steering wheel. Is this normal for a lifted cart? Also my tires in the front stick out woder than the rear, is that normal? Any thoughts are always appreciated.

what year cart do you have?
I was talking to a dealer the other day (about my 91) and he said they have a lot of play in the steering anyway and weren't ideal to lift. I think the ones up through 94 had the same front end design.
I think 94.5 - ~2001 had some improvements and >2001 had even more improvements.

Its a 2006.

I have the same problem and mines a '97. Just have to deal with it as they weren't really meant to have big wheels and tires. As for the difference in wheel width, just add some 2 inch spacers on the rear and it will even them right up. I hated the way mine looked after I lifted it so that's what I did.

Most likely slop in the rack itself or in the king pins. Also need to check the tie rod end that connects the rack to the spindle. The major wear point on mine was the king pins. I solved mine when I got the new spindles with my disk brakes.

Im starting to wonder if I would have had better luck with a drop axel lift rather than the 6" drop spindle lift? Would the tires still stick out wider in the front?

I just installed a 6" spindle lift on my 2002 but while I was at it I went ahead and replaced the steering box, intermediate shaft, tie rod ends and king pins and it rides like new but I guess that's because it is!!

Dunna about the original poster's buggy, but your '97 may have the same steering as my '98. The rack was very worn in the middle, where most folks seem to drive - lotta back and forth over 13 years.

If I get 2" spacers, will I have to get longer studs? Is that the norm or do most just leave the front stick out further?
