Default Adding ATV Running Gear

I can see how changing the front suspension would be pretty straight forward, but what about the back axle? Is there a way to adapt the ATV axle to work with an EZGO electric motor?

Don't know that I have ever seen that before. Most disgarded electric carts get new life breathed into them with a donor engine from the same ATV or a lawnmower engine.

Not many have done it successfully. Look thru this forum for the ATV/bike swaps: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/bike-atv-engine-swaps/

A lot of the guys use a jackshaft axle supported with pillowblocks..... run a chain from the engine to a sprocket on the jackshaft.... then another sprocket on the jackshaft goes to the rear diff.

The issue is you need a reverse gear. Using a 4 stroke gas rear diff will get you reverse. But the sparky or 2 stroke rear diffs don't.

AJ, I think what he is asking is can you run the original electric motor with an ATV rear end. I had to read it twice before I caught it.

Yikes! I totally read that wrong.

No way I'd tell someone no way it can be done.... they'd probably just take it as a challenge. But I don't think I've ever seen any cart engine used with any other kind of axle. Not sure I see the point in doing it either.
