'08 TXT Fleet Clays cart
Hello all: I recently got a great deal for a 2008 TXT 36v Fleet cart with 2011 batteries and a charger for $900. A buddy purchased about 8 from a local golf course that closed and he sold one to me at a small markup. I intend to build a sporting clays cart out of it and try to keep my intial outlay to less than $2500. My planned upgrades right now are: 6" spindle lift kit, 10" wheels w/ all terrain tires, a front basket, and 2 enclosed scabbards for my guns.
If I had a shop to do the work myself I know I could keep it under $1500, but unfortunatley I do not have the room to work on it at my townhouse. I've attached a couple photos of it from when I picked it up and will post newer ones as it gets upgraded. I've been trolling this forum for the past week getting great ideas and valuable information from all of the members and want to thank all of the members and admins for such a great forum. Scott |

Welcome to BGW, Scott. That is a great deal you have received for yourself! If I was in LA I would be more than happy to help you out with your upgrades, unfortunately it would be a heck of a drive for you...
Most bolt on items like the front basket can be installed in about 30 minutes with basic hand tools. The lift kit would be the most difficult. |

Thanks for the welcome. The cart is off to get the lift kit and tire/wheels done. The guy is charging me $825 for the whole package - labor included. I thought it was a good deal so considering most of the prices I've seen. I'll post pics once I get it back.

Welcome to the madness. I think that was the way I was welcomed anyway. If you have any knowledge of tools, now is the time to put your skills to work. Golf carts are something of a specialized vehicle and service costs can be expensive. Since it appears you are going to modify the machine, you may find a bit of diy translates to more goodies. Most certainly, the folks on this site will help you with any issue you encounter.

OK. Got the buggy back with the new tires and lift. Its starting to take shape. Here are some pics. Next up is to re-cover the seats and backs, put a back seat on it, add some way to carry my shotguns, and a front basket.

Nice cart.
Given any thought to what you are going to do to the drive system to turn those tall tires? |

Re: '08 TXT Fleet Clays cart
Johnnie - I will keep it stock 36v for now - except for some cable and F/R switch upgrades. Probably to a 48v upgrade next year. I also decided to do a King Ranch theme on it so it matches my F150 KR. Its starting to take shape, but I completely blew my original budget!!!! These pics were taken yesterday when I got it back from Steve at mudbugs in Eunice, LA - he's done most of the work and is a great guy to deal with!!!
It had rained the day I picked it up so its dirty. I'll post some more pics once I get the back seats re-done and a couple other items put on it. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/pictu...ictureid=17504 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/pictu...ictureid=17503 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/pictu...ictureid=17502 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/pictu...ictureid=17501 What do you think of it? |

Looking good.
I suspect installing a bigger controller will get added to the list of things to do when you discover how much torque was lost when the tall tires were installed. |

Sweet looking cart. Pay heed to what Johnnie is trying to tell you. Getting stranded in the out back is no fun.
