? about fire extinguisher
I bought an extinguisher for the cart. Is it okay to leave it out there in the winter, when it might get into the lower teens, and also in the summer when it gets in the upper 80's? I keep my cart in a shelter logic thing away from the house. I know it would be silly to have a cart extinguisher and not have it in the cart, but are there any weather conditions where I shouldn't leave it out there?

good question .. i have one on my jeep here in Florida
it is my 3rd one ..other 2 were used on the road they were stored on roll bar in the weather both worked fine ... the first was on for 2 years before it was used weather was freezing a few times and 90s alot |

An annual inspection is recommended by a qualified technician. Take it to a fire house and ask them to have it tested every fall or ?
Some manufacturers recommend shaking your dry chemical extinguishers once a month to prevent the powder from settling/packing. More info here > http://www.fire-extinguisher101.com/...intenance.html |

If it is a dry chemical extinguisher it is fine in any temp.
If it is one of the newer foam based disposalble units, then freezing is a concern. |

Get one that's used for a boat, and I would think it should be good for any temperature, as boats sit out in the elements.
I found out with my Sea-Doo that a home fire extinguisher isn't made to be bounced around like a marine one is.  |

Other then the price what do you think is physically different?
Marine extinguishers have to meet USCG specs, but most store bought extinguishers are the same and meet those specs. Primary difference is the mounting bracket. |

In my case, the pin you have to pull before you could discharge it. The pin appeared to be UV resistant and shock resistant. My home extinguisher wasn't. Ask me how I found out.

Don't got no pics.
After it discharged, I opened it up and faked the dial to indicate "good". Who in their right mind is gonna sit on a SeaDoo and try and fight a fire? Sold it years ago. I still have the fire extinguisher, which I used to fill with flammable liquids, then compress to 100 psi. Makes a kewl gag at a bonfire.  |
