Re: Terminal protectant spray
Please do NOT just put on any grease on the terminals, grease that is not meant for battery connections will breakdown the battery seals and containers causing you a bigger corrosion problems.
The proper way to apply battery corrosion preventer is to: breakdown each connection neutralize acid from the tops, posts, terminals, cables and hardware and completely dry. clean oxidation from posts, terminals and connections. apply thin, almost transparent, coat of battery terminal protection (no-ox) to connection points of posts, terminal's and cables Assemble connections torque connections verify connections with micro-ohm meter Some actually then coat the connector for good measure. I think all it does is make a dust trap and a ugly job. The purpose of no-ox is to make it so air and battery gasses can not get inside of the connection points to cause oxidation and corrosion. On our products (UPS) we use NCP-2 in the liquid form and brush it on. You should always open the battery box to allow ventilation when charging |

Re: Terminal protectant spray
The other reason you don't use regular grease is that it conducts,so its' the same as or worse than bare terminals. When I started at the Town-job I had, they coated all the salter-terminals with White-Lithium grease.I questioned it,they said they replace the wiring every year and repair it during the season.I convinced them to switch to Dielectric-Grease,and the wiring went all year,no issues.Salt-Water is a nasty corrosive, and very conductive.I too resemble the "Smartass" remark!!!
