Default Reversing Contactors

I talked to ScottyB about getting his setup for my TXT that I use for work. Unfortunately the State of Florida wouldn't order that setup from an out of state vendor so we took it to our repair shop to see what they offered. They build a version of the same but it cost the state $597, but he swears it'll never burn up again.

So I just wanted to thank Scotty for his advice and apologize for not being able to give you the business.

NIce ...... almost as good as my set up but 2.6 times the cost.
Is that typical government or what!?

Also doesn't fit as nice as yours... its frustrating as a tax payer when they're cutting our benefits and pay but blantanly wasting money like this.

I can't tell my your picture who makes the contactors the state used to replace the f&r board because it's too blurry to read text. If they are US made contactors they are much higher quality then the china ones Scotty sells and are much more expensive.

Having said that I myself have used many of the china reversing contactors in cart projects with great success. Only once did I have to open one to fix it because a contact was sticking brand new out of the box.

I believe the US made contactors will greatly outlast the cheaper ones but the high cost prohibits use in our hobby.

The Contactors we sell are duty rated at 2 million cycles plus or minus 100,000. If they don't out last your cart I'll eat my hat.
Recently a friend needed a car. He wanted his wife to be able to use it also for her work. She used the car at work for the Government so the car had to be union made in the USA. There were like 2 cars to choose from. This is what the govt has regulated itself into.
I'm glad you were able to get what you needed after our discussion.

My previous government employer also bought only "US" made cars. In their case, I think it was merely a "low bid" cheap, rather than US made.

Buying cheap doesn't tell the whole picture. You have to look at total life-cycle cost, but being in the public eye, newspapers don't always tell the whole story. After all, these guys gotta get re-elected, and don't want bad press.
