Overheating G2
I just started having a problem with my G2 overheating. After about 10 minutes of driving I can feel the heat coming from around the seat and the cart noticeably looses power. When I raise the seat there is a little bit of smoke coming off the engine and it is super hot, you can't touch anything in the engine compartment without getting burnt. I've pulled the plastic off the engine and made sure everything was clean and it was. What else should I check? How do I adjust the carb to make sure it isn't running lean?

Re: Overheating G2
There are so many things to check, if there are no birds nests in the fins under the plastic. You need to start checking basic power robbing things like is the exhaust plugged up, are brakes draging, is the tranny binding (hard to turn by hand), is the motor getting oil to the top end (rocker galley). Then, need to check state of tune, valve adjust, new spark plug ( the correct heat range), jetting in carb, new air filter. I'm sure there's more, but someone will help us out.
Good luck, read this whole site, do all maint you learn about on here, and I bet you find the problem!! |

I found a crack in the plastic piece between the carburetor and the intake. Could that cause it to run lean and overheat?

Re: Overheating G2
Also make sure your exhaust system and gasket between the engine and the exhaust system have no leaks. This can produce a lot of heat under the seat.

Re: Overheating G2
Don't forget to clean the intake over the flywheel, but I would guess it is running lean and your plug is white. Have also heard of bad ignitor doing this.
