Re: Got fire and gas
IT is E Z Go 1981 2cycle engine, It will turn either direction and run when it is runing .
I have fire and gas but will not run, What am I missing? Is there a key in the flywheel that could be off some ? What makes it fire at the correct time? Would any one have a diagram of the wireing? Any info will be appreciated. |

Re: Got fire and gas
81 is the year that switched from points to electronic ignition. Any idea which version you have?
Gas and fire is no good without squeeze? What is the compression. A ripped diaphragm in the fuel pump will make it look like there is gas. Worn seals will cause your condition too. The sticky section under EZGO gas has an hei conversion for 3PGs. There are diagrams in there that should be the same. |

Re: Got fire and gas
I have 120 lb compression. The spark plug is wet when it thruoghs this fit of not starting , you don't have to choke it to get it wet. The carb is clean , the tank has been cleaned out also. Fresh gas mixed 50-1.
I rebuild 4 and 6 cylinder tractor engines can make them run prety easy. Just haven't been in one of these things ,was wanting info before I messed something up worse. |

Re: Got fire and gas
your compression is good.
50:1 is too much oil. 128:1 is called out. 1 ounce of oil per gallon of gas. Let's eliminate the fuel pump first. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...fuel-pump.html The points, or magnetic pick up (pulsar) are located under the flywheel. The pulsar has a red, and green wire going to the igniter. I don't know what color the wires are for the points. |

Re: Got fire and gas
It mite be a day or 2 before I get the gas changed to try to see if it will start. You are the only one that said anything about the mix, have asked before and got the mix from computer. Thanks, Will get back with you soon.

Re: Got fire and gas
The mix is not keeping it from starting. It's just going to smoke a lot more than it needs to, and will foul out the plug a lot quicker.
We need to look at your pump first, and move on from there. Maybe seals. Maybe carburetor. Maybe plugged exhaust. Maybe ignition. One thing at a time. |

I am an accountant but I can fix your golf cart, your Honda Civic, your Toyota Corolla. I can also shoot a 75-78 on a par 72 course; I can design a golf course. And I can audit your books of accounts. In other words, I can do anything...well...almost.
