Default 1989 Ezgo gas transaxle delemma

I've probably made a mistake! I purchased an 1989 Ezgo Marathon gas cart and have discovered the transaxle is missing the two caps that hold the diferential bearings in place. With some wiring repairs, carb and tank cleaning and new battery I have this thing running but obviously not moving. Including battery purchase I'm into this for about $350.00 and looking forward will need paint, tires, seats and whatever this transaxle issue takes. Is it worth continuing forward and if so any suggestions on where to find a transaxle? Or should I cut my losses and call it a learning lesson?

Can you post a pic of where the "caps" are missing from just to clarify the exact parts you need?

This may be a dumb newbie question but....if I'm unable to repair this transaxle would it be possible to take a different model transaxle, remove and weld my existing axle brackets onto it providing that the track width and clutch offset is the same?

you can change the rear end. I just put a Yamaha g-2 rear
end in my 1985 ezgo. it takes some fabrication, but its doable.
