Actually, many cart motors do offer a oil filter, or at least a oil screen (all Kawasaki ohv have filters & subaru/robin 2cyl have a screen filter). But they are not Yamahas, the yamaha 4-cycle does not use a oil filter or screen. Heres why- yamaha uses a "splash oiling system". That means it uses no oil filter, screen, or even a oil pump. It "splashes" oil around to the oil points & ports where its needed. It actually works great, as long as you dont spin crazy rpms, or add a turbo/supercharger. The other benefit is no HP drag from a fluid pump (usually gear/rotor pump on other makes).
