Angry 82 Yamaha G1 all grounds have power??

I have this Yamaha G1 2 cycle that was a friends fathers. It did not run when I received it. So I did some work & replaced the coil & CDI unit & got it to start.
But a strange thing happened???? It would just idle, even when I would operate the carb manually????? Did not under stand so I removed the battery & parked it for 3 years.
I don't have the time to work on it so I brought it to the local mower shop next to my Auto Shop. also a new battery and told him this.
He shows me that all the grounds are HOT????? touch the test light to anything, motor, frame ect & it lights up??? Hope my new CDI & Coil are ok.
I suck at electrical & fry a stereo before I get it out of the box. So I usually use other people or one of my techs.
Just curious how this could be??? It started up when I parked it. Was hoping it might be a strange common thing on the G1's and I could get the magic answer and save a lot of time diagnosing. Not sure. I need to find a wiring diagram as well.
Thanks

P.S I am sure it's been tweaked for best power because his dad's sone in law worked at a course on carts & it was his cart. But I was told if you remove the oil mixer & pre mix your gas that it gives you more power??? Is that true??

Whats the other end of the test light hooked too?

Premix because it always works, oil injection can fail, i have never heard more power from premix but that does nkt mean its not true.

Worse thing to do on a 3ngine is to have it sit, 2 strokes need good seals on them to run right.

Yamaha the best carts IMHO, but they are not new and wiring issues are very common with them. Good part its easy and cheap to fix, bad part you have to go over the cables and wires and fix all the connectors and check everything. They don't have frame ground only the cradle is grounded, so everything has ground wires in addition to hot wires. You have to check them all, make sure everything has a good ground, check all connections, fuse holders, bolts, clamps, etc. Cables on battery can also be a pain to get a connection on post even if they look clean. And remember everything is wire grounded, not like a car where body is ground. That can give you twice as many things to go wrong, but CG does not have that much wiring anyway. Some people make whole new wiring harnesses, but I've never seen the need. If grounds have power in them, then you know they are not connected to the battery ground. You always test back to the battery post itself. Then you may have to test under load to see bad connections, the voltage will fall in 12v wires, voltage will rise in ground.

Thank you to all that helped. I got it solved. Someone hooked hot to ground. Don't understand why it didn't self destruct but thankful it didn't.
I will start a new thread about upgrades.
