Secondary position

Just put a new secondary on my g16. The inner sheave is in the middle and doesnt look like the ramps will ride on the buttons. Is this bad or will it make the clutch not work correctly?

If you have an aftermarket spring without the tangs on the end that hook in for preload, then it may do that. When you move the cart it should come together and the pads all touch. The belt will push them together.

If you have a stock or umax spring then you forgot to preload it.

Spring with no tangs you just put it in.

Yamaha spring you put in stock setting that would be B-4 you have to look at the markings to find the right holes. If you go higher it will rev more at low speeds and lower it will shift out more at low speeds/throttle. You might want less on a umax like B-2 or 3. Then when you put the sheave on you have to wind the spring to the next ramp (roughly 1/3 turn) and push it in so the pads are on it, hold it there and get the outer parts all on until the pads can't come off the ramps. Its not bad with a stock spring, with a umax you need a board or something to hold it. Or like aftermarket ones you ratchet strap it on. Some people put zipties on the spring to keep it compressed then cut them once its all on. Have your brakes locked and in gear so the trans can't turn.
