LIMITED SUCCESS!

Checked the brown and red wires... it looks okay, I did not do any multi-meter testing.

I checked the ground wires.. they seem very grounded. I cleaned the frame and the bolts to be sure.

I unplugged, stared at the plug end and then re-plugged the wires to the voltage regulator.
The pink wire was unplugged, so just for grins I plugged it in. No buzzers ever sounded.

I checked the wires to the ignition coil and it seemed like the top connection was loose (orange wire). I used pliers and crimped the end of the spade connector tighter and put it back on.

Pulled the plug and compresson tested ... 180 .. That seems good. Plug was clean.

Used my plug tester and tried starting it again and there WAS SPARK!

Moved all the clutter, tools, etc off the cart, lowered the seat, and tried backing it. Loud, uneven, clanking... but it moved. Put it in Forward and more clanking, delay in moving, running rough, and slow/fast/slow/fast and a ton of Smoke --- lots of light blue smoke, lots and lots.

Turned a circle and went back to the shade tree (total of about 50 feet traveled).

Now -- whats the deal with the smoke, rough running, no pep.

It would appear this is a ring job.
I believe I'll delay on this effort. I'll have to research the process, kits, piston size, etc.

Ergo, I plan to take this engine out and install the engine from the other cart.
We will see how it performs.

Try running it for a little while longer to see if the smoke will clear up.

Advice welcome....

I have several projects at the homefront finally coming to an end.
I believe I have the last issues complete for my other lifan build.

So I need to know what the next step should be for this cart.
It has spark (according to the external spark plug tester).
It has compression (according to the tester - 180 pds consistently)

It has NO pep, very limited forward momentum and still smokes like crazy.

Do I take the engine out and try the other stock engine?
Should I check anything else while this engine is on the cart?

If I do a 'ring job', what info do I need to know , things I need to check to be sure I get the best 'ring job kit'?

I won't be putzing with it until Thursday but if I need to order something, I need to go ahead and do it before I lose another month.

I would try the other engine also, now you say this one has no momentum, are you comparing it to your clone, try by-passing the governor to see if its got any more get up and go, normally they only do about 13/14 mph.. keep us updated..

Dang -
Here I am again - ill prepared to meet the day.

I sent in my RMA earlier this week for the 2nd LIFAN engine and just got notice that the new replacement engine will arrive tomorrow morning!

Based on my first clone install, I'm going back over to Vegas Carts and order what I need for this install
HOWEVER
I also need to replace the fuel pump and the starter relay (solenoid).

I have two remaining pumps from the other carts but they are significantly smaller than the round mikuni metal pump that fits the bolt holes on the tank and would put out enough fluid for the clone.

Could someone tell me the proper part numbers for OEM solenoid and OEM fuel pump so I can order items that fit properly from boats.net?

Thanks,
