G2 engine value
I’m fairly new to these boards and just had a question... I’ve got a running G2 engine I’m looking to sell, and have a local guy who is interested in it, but I really don’t have any idea what it’s worth. It definitely needs rebuilt as it burns oil and seems to be low on power, but actually runs just fine otherwise. He isn’t interested in the clutch or starter/generator so just wanting a ballpark idea what to ask for the engine.

I had a similar situation with my G14 engine. Could not sell it here or elsewhere for $200. Parted it out on Bay for $900. Second case my columbia /harley engine. Again not a single inquiry at $200 parted some of it out on Ebay for $500. Logic ? Part of it is of course the cost of shipping a complete engine. Some of the parts I gave free shipping on but I also suspect individuals and some shops need a specific part and look on Ebay. DO note no scalping was involved in selling these parts. Where possible to find the original parts cost I would list it for half price.

Thanks for the input! Since this guy only needs some of the valve train, I think I’ll just part it out. Where do you look to see what the OEM Yamaha parts cost?
