82 G1 crank seals will not come out...any ideas?
Has anyone had a hard time removing their crank seals before? I just replaced mine a few years back but I'm replacing them again because I still have a fuel issue. It was my first time replacing them before and my fuel issue never really went away and it runs lean after it gets hot so I'm assuming I might have messed them up on the previous install. Can't seem to get the seals out. I put a drywall screw in a couple times and pried with vise grips and prybar...not moving just stripping.

Your okn the right path. I took a hammer and punch and dented mine so it would fold to pry out. Also I run mixed gas 100 to 1 in mine. I called off the oil reservoir. Something happens to it and you'll burn the piston up

Cranks seals can be tough to get out. Keep working them, you'll get it.
Note that cranks seals aren't the only portion of the fuel delivery system. The reed valve needs to be good, no air leaks anywhere, check valve, of course the fuel pump needs to be good. You could convert to an an electric pump. Personally, I converted all 3 of my 2 cycle carts to electric pumps as those remove all fuel issue prior to the carb. There are pros and cons to converting to electric but I prefer them. |

Finally got it and I think I see the problem. Embarrassed to admit I didn't use assembly lube the first time.

Does it look like I went in too far with the seal? It's about 3/16" deeper than flush with the face of the case. I had it flush with the case on the last seal.
