Re: 1984 G1 not running
When I test the orange wire directly at the motor with a voltmeter I am getting 0. I checked the black wire going into the motor harness to make sure it was grounded and it was. With the voltmeter hooked to the positive side of the battery I had a 12.33 reading. Engaged the pedal motor turns and it dropped down to 0 until I let off the pedal. Is this a charge coil issue? If so how tough are they to change? And where can you get one? From what I have been reading I would say one of the connections on it have probably came loose inside the motor.
And sorry I just seen your reply because I didn’t click I’ve dto the next page. That is voltage. I’m new to using an ohms meter so if I had it set correctly. When I check the orange wire coming from the CDI it reads 1.6. |

Re: 1984 G1 not running
So sounds like I’m in need of a charge coil?

Re: 1984 G1 not running
Make sure battery has a good charge pull the brown wire off of the CDI box ground your test meter and hook it to the brown wire going to the motor and crank it over and see what your voltage is

Re: 1984 G1 not running
Do I need to ground directly to the battery or do I need to ground somewhere else?

Re: 1984 G1 not running
Okay I tried that last night and wasn’t getting anything. Even tried it at the harness down by the motor to see if maybe there was an issues with the wire from motor to CDI. Still no reading.

Re: 1984 G1 not running
Sounds like you may have a bad Exciter coil do you have to pull the cover off the motor and pull your flywheel off and then you can see it had to do that to mine and wasn't hard at all you need a harmonic balancer puller set
