I don't want something I have to screw with every time I get in it. The beauty of carts is you literally sit down and press the gas pedal and you're going. Not interested in compromising that for this one. I have been keeping my eye out for another one to hot-rod, but that'll be a ways down the road if I need to dump some cash into this one. |

Re: New G9 Owner. A few troubleshooting questions
Yeah, i've got a few lol. I picked up a G2 with a blown up motor for about $300 if I remember right, somewhere in that ball park. Bought a 420 and got everything mounted in there and lined up. It would run and drive, but never got around to the air filter, wiring up the starter/generator, etc. So it was basically a pull start 420cc G2 go kart lol. Had a lot of torque, but with no air filter I didn't want to drive it much. Mostly it sat in the corner of my shop just taking up space and I had an extremely difficult time mustering up the motivation to do anything with it. It's got potential, I just completely lost interest. One of the other members here has it now, he's got the S/G hooked up but don't think he's done much with it since. If I were to do it again, I think I would just go with the electric start and ignore the starter/generator. Save a ton of time and fabrication (I'm too cheap to buy a VC swap kit, on something with a solid swingarm to mount the engine to lol).
I hear you about the convenience of a golf cart though. I have a Gator as well. Thing is a lot of fun to ride around, but the hassle of starting it with the key, letting it idle, etc. is just not as convenient as a golf cart. I love my Carryall for that, hop in, hit the pedal and go :) So the Gator will be going up for sale here soon, I just don't like it as much as my club car. My G9 is just "toy" at this point. Serves no real purpose other than the kids riding it around once every blue moon. I still like the G9 better than any other cart i've had, thing is a tank. But it's just not "functional" compared to the Carryall so the most use it sees is when I get in it and intentionally take it for a 45 minute ride every couple weeks or so just to keep things moving. |

Re: New G9 Owner. A few troubleshooting questions
Both of you make sure the torque cable is there on the left front motor mount!! Very important!!
In this pic I have used a bolt welded to a bracket I made, but Plowman told me the stock cable would be better!! |

Re: New G9 Owner. A few troubleshooting questions
I have used the stock cable, different combos of bolts, nuts, along with various rubber cushions and springs. All failed. Granted I have 24" tires, 780 and secondary clutches set for fast shift over, an 1 1/4" belt, along with 28+ HP engine. BUT the rig pictured below with a urathane bushing and beefy bolt and brackets has survived 2 seasons of Ray abuse. Believe it or not this has also resulted in less vibration and smother shifting transitions. I got the idea from the other carts that use a urathane snubber.

Re: New G9 Owner. A few troubleshooting questions
For myself, maintaining the stock platform was/is important. That's the beauty of Plowmans.
My G16 yard cart recently got a new Plowmans engine and ported and polished head to add to the Hot Setup--machined and bored carb and free flow exhaust. It's still being broken in, and it's got some serious zip. I've seen an honest 33mph, windshield up, on 20" tires. It's got more, but not enough long flat stretches of road here. |

How does that compare to the vanguard? I'd imagine vanguard still has quite the advantage because it's got twice the HP but that's pretty impressive power out of an unbroken in plowman motor |

Re: New G9 Owner. A few troubleshooting questions
Mine does have the cable and it appears in good shape. It has quite a bit of slack. Looks like the spec is 2mm of free play? Any downsides other than some extra vibration to run it 'taut' (not cranked down, just removing all free play)?
