Sounds like maybe the float in your carb may be bad or not installed correctly?

Re: Another "FNG" trying to Fix up a EZ Go Cart
OK, the problem I was haveing is the valves were out of adjustment and timing was off as well---Thats to rurudy I now have the manual and have all of these adjustments made. however my cart is still running a little rough.
Onces its up in RPM's its a rock star, however on the bottom end its a dog, and takes a long time to pick up the R's? It also has a hard time running if I have the air cleaner on? It seems to me like a carb issue? do you know how to or where to find out how to set the carb back to stock or base setting? Thanks again, Mike |

Re: Another "FNG" trying to Fix up a EZ Go Cart
The carbs don't really have much in the way of adjustment. should only have a Idle pilot jet screw that only turns a little for rich or lean. since the engines don't idle it not much use

Re: Another "FNG" trying to Fix up a EZ Go Cart
christian, i may not be experienced as some on this thread. however, some other things to check on therough idle may be assoicated with any of these items: loose or leaky vacuum hose to fuel pump, faulty fuel pump. higher RPM should cause pump to pump at a higher rate which may compansate for some of the previously mentioned and why it runs better at high rpms. i would check these if your sure your carb is clean. that is for the fuel side. now for the carburator mounting side, ensure every thing is tight and that you carb mounting gaskets and spacer is sealing. Maybe Ruredy can shed some light on whether what i have mentioned is applicable or correct.

Re: Another "FNG" trying to Fix up a EZ Go Cart
real hard to say, could be a vac issue but the pcv runs to the breather, removing the air filter doesn't seem like it's going to help seal up the engine any to aid in the pulse to the fuel pump. kinda sounds like it's still flooding out and the air filter is acting like a choke causing more gas to dump in the engine. or could possibly be a slightly bent valve not letting the engine draw enough air through the carb. he did say he had the timing off, not really sure what he meant by that but, if it's the cam then maybe.... I would start with a compression test
