Default Carnage Pics w/ questions

Tore apart the 244 robin tonight, found something interesting. I'm trying to decide what to do now. The rod seems pretty loose on the crank so its probably going to need a "complete" rebuild. Or I have the other option of swapping in a sled motor.
Can this be caused by running without a governor?

those engines run backwards also, this means they have no advancement on the timing. this limits the engines max rpm. The piston skirt being broke off like it is seems more of a "just wore out" kinda thing with the piston slapping in the cylinder or maybe the lack of oil. I doubt it's completely caused by the governor, I'm sure it sped thing up some though.

i'm thinking you need a new piston. try to get one that is not like that one.

there. how's that for advice

here's another:

ever wonder why they don't put sled engines in golf carts so they go super fast, from the factory? especially lifted carts with aggressive tires?

do it and find out lol

I can Vouch for the Sled engine in a lifted cart, Been there done that, Never again. However my buddy had one in a club car and it was MUCH better handling than my EZ GO. I agree with the "'need a new piston" idea also.
