Default Gas Club car precedent governor issue

Hey folks. I have a 2011 gas precedent. I was going to adjust the governor by taking the small nut off and turning the pin. Unfortunately I took the nut all the way off and took the little cotter pin out and the little pin fell down into the hole. The dealer says the case has to be split to get it out. Is there any way I can get the little pin out without splitting the case open?

Can you still see the top of the shaft in the hole?
If it fell in all the way, the only way to get it back is to open the case.
They must have changed something because I don’t think it’s that easy to lose to governor lever on the older transmissions.

The other end of that pin makes about a 70° bend and has a flat that engages the governor wheel inside the transmission. So it could have stopped part way in if it hit something near the governor wheel, but I don’t remember there being much in the way in that part of the trans. Likely it fell in and is wedged against the intermediate shaft somewhere.

I can’t see it but I can feel it when I stick a small screwdriver in there. It’s not very far down there. Would a magnet pull it back up?

try attaching a strong magnet to the screwdriver shaft and see if you can then pick out the the governor shaft.

Man that sucks, was thinking about messing with mine and I can see that cotter pin, 2008 model, This is all new to me and I'm getting 22mph now so I'm good for now. Good Luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

Try using a 1/8" or 3/16" dowel and superglue it to the top of the shaft and try to gingerly raise it that way.

I just got the cart a few weeks ago so this stuff is all new to me but looking at it someone before me did the zip tie trick on the spring, not sure if that's why and I'm not sure if anything else was done to it. There are YouTube videos on the zip tie trick. May be posted here somewhere also.

I tried a magnet. No dice. I think that piece may be aluminum. Super glue wasn’t strong enough to hold. Going to try a dab of epoxy at the end of a tiny dowel and see if I can pick it up. If that fails I may have no choice but to take it in to have the case split.

Does anyone know if that case can be split open without removing the whole axle from the cart?
