1988 ezgo Starting another one from the dead
I was given this one a while back. I put a running motor in it and got the loose wiring straightened out. I have got it turning over but it seems to be stuck in reverse. At least the warning alarm in on no matter if the cart in in reverse or not. I sprayed wd-40 in there and worked it through everything like the switch, and all the solenoids. some of the rollers are not turning but they all seem to be working properly. My other problem is the Secondary has a big dent on it and I am worried it is not going to work properly

Re: 1988 ezgo Starting another one from the dead
Does the engine actually run forward and backward? If so, I think I'd just remove the buzzer.Mine was going off all the time as well so I got rid of it.I only have forward at the moment.Mine won't even crank in reverse.
As far as rollers, do you mean on the micro switches?I think one of them works the reverse buzzer so that might be why it's going off all the time if it's stuck, but you say they seem to be working.I'm not really sure what the other one does. The secondary, or driven clutch having a dent in it would give you one screwed up ride for sure.I'm missing a tooth on my drive belt and I can feel that on a dirt road. It's going to be pulling and releasing on your drive belt every time that dent comes around.I'd say your driven clutch needs to come off anyhow, so if you feel comfortable with a hammer, you might try to straighten it up nice or take it to someone who can. |

The cart is not exactly running yet. I have only got the wiring straightened out so far. I made sure it cranks over but I still need to add a gas tank .That is why i don't know if it is for sure stuck or if it is just the alarm. That's what I figured about the secondary. I mine as well fix it before it creates a problem. |

Look which way it cranks when you turn it over.Should be pretty easy to tell.

It is turning over both ways. So the alarm must be stuck. I have a few more laying around. today I stole a tank off another cart and cleaned it out. the cart should be running by the end of the night. I am going to attempt to pull of the front half of the secondary with everything intact. I doubt it is going to work I will probably have to pull the motor again.

Got it running today. It seems to be working pretty good. the dent in the secondary is not even effecting it. Im so excited I finally figured these things out. I have 2 running now and two more still to go.
