Default getting closer but still need help

87 Easy go believe it is a 2pg motor. Lost spark, got spark back with HEI conversion. HEI module said it was for a 85 K5 Blazer, dont know if that makes a differance. Still have the stock coil. Put the cart on jack stands, cracked the tail pipe from the muffler and got the rpms to ramp up pretty good.
On the ground with me in it, backsfires like crazy with the tail pipe cracked but did run better with open exhaust. Runs better in reverse then forward. Tried the WD40 trick on the crackseal and that did not help.
I did buy this cart in Phoenix Arizona and now it is in a town that is 6000 ft higher in elevation, does it need to be re-jetted?
Also runs better or worse in differant positions of the forward and reverse switch.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

To answer your jetting question; yes, probably. But you'll get a lot more and possibly better responses in the Gas EZGO section.

Have you swapped the red and blue wires going into the hei module? The pic you posted is how the drawing is shown. Usually they need to be reversed to get the correct timing.

Are you sure it's getting enough fuel?

Humm? I think I would try replacing the plug wire and a new plug and see if you get any change not a big cost and your not out anything if that's not it.
