Default Issues when letting off the accelerator

I have a 2002 club car. When I let off the accelerator it does stop but cranks back up on its own and will go in reverse for about two seconds. It does not do this all the time, but it seems to be getting more frequent. I know this sounds crazy. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The cart is "dieseling" right after shutdown, but I'm not sure what is causing it to jump in reverse. Anyone know how to fix the dieseling issue or is it timing?

I have this same issue and changed the micro switches for accelerator
I think it fixed the reverse issue but cart is in storage I will find out this spring if problem still there

also I added octane booster to stop the Dieseling it helped but still did it on occasion

the club carts are my father in laws so I am new to servicing them

Just a thought and the club car guys will be here soon.. I wonder if the grounding circuit on the ignition is not working.. I believe when you shut off a CC that there is supposed to be a circuit that grounds the ignition so no spark. So when the starter quits getting juice it will slow down to a point of stopping but it there is still a spark there when it hits TDC it may fire and send the piston backwards..

Yes I know its a WAG...

Thanks for the reply guys. I will look into your suggestions. I bought this cart from a silent auction at work and I'm trying to work out all the bugs. The starter belt is constantly slipping during start up. That's even after a new belt with good tension. I also have some squeaking coming from a bearing or some type of metal on metal contact down in the engine compartment. I haven't been able to pin point the exact location yet. It's a work in progress.

We had a Carryall doing this at work and I found out that if the butterfly in the carb doesn't close completely it will do as you say this one does. Cure was to make sure the throttle butterfly sealed off when closed. i removed the stop screw and it sealed off good and problem was no more.

Also be sure you have the correct spark plug heat range.

I third that the butterfly may not be closong all the way. Probably just need some adjustment. Theres a procedure in the the manual to get all these things in tune. Sorry I dont have that year manual but maybe someone else could post the procedures to adjust your throttle.
