You can check it with an ohm meter.

The green and orange wires are the start circuit, they make connection when you press the gas pedal down and loose connection when the gas pedal is not pressed.

The black and white are the stop circuit, they make connection when the gas pedal is not pushed and loose connection when the gas pedal is pushed.

If it's bad you can replace the switches in it, I outlined how to do it in another thread.

I removed the switch from the pedal. the black and white have contunity until I turn the switch with a screwdriver, then it looses it. There is no contunity between the green & orange in either position. My switch is enclosed. Can you still replace the internal switches?

It sounds like your kill switch (pedal up) is working but the start switch (pedal depressed) is not.

Check out the link below on how to fix it:

_________Brandon,

Did you silicone the switches back in place or use something else?

They are held in place with screws, but you could add some silicon to the outside to help keep the water out.
