G9 oil or synthetic
hello. just finished my engine rebuild and was wondering if i should switch to synthetic oil. or is it best to stay with conventional oil.

I was told to switch over to synthetic if you have the governor bypasses where the cart runs more rpms..

the governor is still hooked up. the cart is still stock, just picked this old cart up from scrap .redone the clutches and rebuild the engine. hoping to make the best of it, thanks for the info..

Reg. oil for breaking in the engine and then change it over to synthetic.

I was gonna say the the thing about the break in oil but wasnt absolutely sure so that I didn't give the op incorrect info..

The idea that synthetic oils can't be used for break in is one of the most enduring myths in the automotive world. It's complete BS.
I use whatever oil I regularly use in the engine to break it in, and over my career, that would be hundreds of them. Not one has ever failed to seat the rings in a top end that I prepped and assembled myself. Also note that several top of the line performance vehicles from major manufacturers have their brand new engines filled with full synthetics from day 1, and many of them will void the engine warranty if anything other than a full synthetic is used. It is the prep and assembly of the build, and the break in method that determine success or failure, not whether you use a synthetic or not. |

I use some cheap oil at first as I plan to dump it after limited use, then I go to synthetic. I like to change the oil after the first tank or two with a new/rebuilt engine then go to a normal change interval.
