Concerned about Kawasaki FE290d-CS17
Looking at buying a CC 2005 cart. I want to use it at the deer camp and at the beach two weeks out of the year. Camp has some hills and gets muddy when it rains. It is set up with 22/11/10 tires. Lifted I think six inches. The guy states it seems to run slow. It has a flip flop seat.
1. Is this engine strong enough for the uses stated? 2. Is there any problems with this engine in general? 3. Do I need to look at an EzGo or Yamaha? 4. EzGo. Valor? |

1) Yes, However... softer sand in general will kick most stock carts butt!
2) No, The FE290 Kawi engines have been used in CC's since 1992 3) Any of the "Big 3" brand name carts will do you right! 4) I don't know! Welcome to BGW! |

Thank you for the welcome and answers. I read a lot about the advantage of Club Car aluminum frame. One big question is will two weeks at the beach be enough to hurt the EzGo or Yamaha frames? Other is electric at the beach?

As you should know... salt water/air/mist can affect pretty much any metal with rust, or corrosion.
It all depends on how well you rinse/maintain the cart to prevent any rust/corrosion! |

Re: Concerned about Kawasaki FE290d-CS17
well, i live 300 yards from the beach,
my very first cart was an ez-go, within the first month the frame starting showing signs of rust, and after a year i had to sell the cart, cause the frame had rusted so bad to a point were it was not safe. so i bought a club car. my cart is now almost 10 years old and the frame still looks new, suspension, muffler and other parts have rusted away, but that is a small price to pay......for life at the beach.... a couple of my friends that have ez-go's, have started spraying there frames and other stuff with plasta-dip......jury is still out on that one..... my club car is stock, and goes everywhere in soft sand, with 4 people on it, although after long runs on the beach(10 to 15 miles).......the motor will get hot..... hope this helps..... |
