Assume the previous owner adjusted everything out of whack.

What are the steps to adjust the governor springs, throttle cable, pedal, arm to the carb, and carb idle screw? (am I missing anything?)
You can find the owner's manual in the stickys above. There is a procedure for setting the governor and the throttle.

Okay, been working on it. Wont idle down low. I think it could be a crank seal. I will search, but is there a thread for this procedure?

It is posted on here for sure but I don't know where. Lot of people hose up the throttle on those thinking it makes them faster.

Hey KKRRSS, have you figured your issue out yet? I think I have the same problem. I can unhook the throttle cable from gas pedal with no change. Dont make any sense to me. Does it have something to do with the switch under the pedal or is it linkage issues? Really aggrevating not to be able to idle around without kicking in and out constantly.

G1 tend to have common issues. One is the carb gets oily and it slips in the rubber boot, it twists sideways. This causes the throttle to be out of adjustment. Cure is pull carb and clean it and the inside of the rubber boots with carb cleaner (brake clean/etc) and put it back together with the carb straight up in the right spot. Next make sure the pedal cable is working and adjusted right. Pull up the floor and check the end of it. It should have the carb shut when pedal is up, it should trip the switch and turn over and start and idle BEFORE the carb opens at all. It should idle like a lawnmower or anything else, adjust the idle speed and mix so it does. Idle should be kind of slow though and like most 2 cycles it should miss at idle because its a little rich. If you have an issue of the switch not starting it, it should be adjusted to switch after little movement in the pedal and should turn it off when you let off. Should idle running if you hold the pedal down just a little say 1" down at top of pedal and less of its travel. Adjust the cable at the pedal to make it like that. Should be able to do this and still open the carb fully when you floor it. How the governor is adjusted or disabled will control max speed.

Mine was a completely ruined pto side cranshaft seal. Just removed gas tank, clutch, and oil injector housings to access the seal. Idles low. Revs smooth.
