When the battery is charging it will be a higher voltage and once charged should be high 12s, low 13s. The big question is what does the voltage do when you are having a problem.

Have you downloaded the manual yet? Do that and follow the troubleshooting in it. It will walk you through the steps to check the generator and the regulator etc.
