G8A will not develop full power
My 1991 (JF2100) Yamaha G8A will not develop full power, and maximum rpms, until you sit warming up the cold engine for 4-5 minutes. Until I do so it will barely go up a hill. Have replaced carb, spark plug, air filter, rubber clips holding down air filter cover, fuel filter, and checked valve adjustment. I have also replaced the fuel (non ethanol) with fresh, non ethanol gasoline. Adjusting carburetor has not worked either.

Re: G8A will not develop full power
What if you hold the choke on just a little? Really sounds like a mixture issue, try the choke trick and see if it helps.

Re: G8A will not develop full power
Choking does not help at all.
