1977 EZGO 2 cycle-No Spark
My 77 Marathon is cranking over, but I do not see any spark. I'm trying to trouble shoot my issue by use of a multimeter, but my manual only refers to using the old style guage meters (they do not explain how to check resistance or ohm values), or it says to replace the suspected bad component with a known good component (that's a novel idea, but not practical). Can anyone help with giving me easy troubleshooting steps that would trace down my spark issue?

Re: 1977 EZGO 2 cycle-No Spark
Being a 77, I would guess points and condenser.
When the points are closed you should read little to no resistance. When they are open, you should read infinity. Charge the capacitor (condenser) with the battery, and hand it to your wife. If she drops it, and punches you in the face, you know it's good. If she just stands there looking at you like you have 3 eyes, you know it's bad. |
