Command pro 26 swap into G9!
Hey everyone.
I've begun the swap to a kohler command pro 26. Ported heads Polished valves Stock cam. For now Est. 30hp I don't know why my photos are all upside down. There right from my iPhone Questions 1. What size is the shaft size of stock g9? 2. My motor is 1" 3. Should I use the factory starter/generator? If the shaft size don't match then I will have to do some fabricating The old motor will be coming out soon and more pics to come |

Cool build.
When you take your pictures, are you holding your phone upside down? My wife has a habit of doing that, they always show up upside down on our computer. Just a thought. |

I don't know what to expect. Tonight I want to pull the old motor out and start cleaning up the mess.
I don't have a specific site, the ones I found are expensive. I just had a local machine shop port the heads and rebuild the motor for me. I'm doing the rest of the work. It's mostly put together except the wiring and computer. |

Re: Command pro 26 swap into G9!
Stock G9 shaft is 30mm taper. You can buy an adapter to put on your 1" shaft and fit stock or other 30mm taper clutches as its a common size for sleds and golf carts. CPP and others have the adapter. I like the pedal start its easy to keep if you use a clutch with the pulley, up to you. The gen also charges 15a. You may have to cut your crank shorter depending or the clutch can stick out too far.
For Kohler they are raced in lawn mower racing and/or pulling. There are some stuff for them but you have to dig around. Porting and cutting the head and advancing the timing, along with better springs on the valves if needed will get you going for now. Though porting will not help a lot without a cam, but does help some as you will run more than 3600 rpm. |
