Default 2ga cable hype?

I've heard a lot about cable diameter and lug quality in comparison to amperage draw. Just got a xct500 to replace a dcx 600 (huge thanks to dave) and I'm a little confused by input and output terminations on the new controller. Are 2ga cables and heavy duty lugs really that important in comparison to the new and old controllers? I've heard a lot of great things about this controller.

Low resistance end-to-end is important.

The Total resistance of a cable set connection includes:
Resistance of the cable itself X the number of feet used.
The quality of the Termination (Crimp or Solder).
The amount of "surface" contact between cable lug and terminal.
That Terminal on the new Altrax is very short so it has very little "resistance" (similar to how a 500 amp fuse has a very small gauge).

The main factor on that termination is to have the cable lug in direct contact with that flat surface.

If you had a small ring terminal between the main cable and that tab it could produce a lot of heat during high current demand due to the increased resistance caused by the reduced surface contact area.

I would imagine that was more for the physical strength needed to support the cables on the old design.

You're gonna love that controller. It's MUCH better than the DCX.

Default 2ga cable hype?

Very nice and man that's fast. Don't think I need that much speed lol. I'd love to upgrade my motor and controller but I think my cart money is spent for the summer. Just upgraded my battery pack. Did you figure out why the F&R are reversed?
