87 ez-go 36volt electrical issue (Help)
My dad purchased this cart with no batteries. He had the motor checked by a golf cart place and it checked out okay. I have been fixing it up. I purchased new batteries and cables. I have looked at the wring diagrams for wiring everything up and it seems to be hooked up right. But It still doesnt work.
The buzer goes off when the drive select is in the reverse position but when you press the pedel it does nothing. I used a tester to see whats getting power and whats not. This might be a dumb asumption but isnt the ignition supposed to get some sort of power to one of the wires. Mine gets none and doesnt effect power to the solenoid in on and or off postion. The solenoid gets power to the side closest to the drive selector and when it is switched into the reverse position it shifts power to the other side where the accelorator switch is. It is getting power to all of the accelorator postion spots, coil and motor connections when its in the reverse position. when its shifted in forward it changes power back over to the first solenoid position and sends nothing to the accelorator switch. The two connections on the front of the solenoid one of which has the yellow wire going to the ignition get no powe at all. Is it possible the solenoid is blown or maybe one of the micros? Is it possibly wired wrong? I have attached some pictures for everyone to see. Any help on this would be a huge help. I am supposed to take this down to my parents river house this weekend to give it to them. |

Re: 87 ez-go 36volt electrical issue (Help)
You could have one of many problems. You need to grab a diagram and go over it real good, then go over it again. Get yourself a volt/ohm meter. You can't perform simple diagnostics without one. The key doesn't "Have to" get power as long as someone wired it where it would run but yes....it gets power or at least it's "supposed to". Sounds like someone has re-wired the cart because the key doesn't work.....which tells me the wiring can't be right. (by the diagram)
