I'll get a few more details listed today and get the extensive nest material removed from the engine cradle. It will probably fill most of a trash can...

Any idea how many hours were on this engine prior to you getting it?
My somewhat newer CarryAll 1 w/ 2500 hours on seems like she is struggling a bit though IIRC it had 118psi when I checked compression right after I got it. Based on its condition, I highly doubt anyone had ever done much maintenance on it other than topping off the oil.

Here are a few pictures of the newer unitized transmission from 97+. This is the transmission I removed recently from my 02 DS, so it was easier to get clear pictures than squeezing under my cart.

You leave the 4 bolts in the corners alone, just remove the 2 in the center. You can also see why the bolt behind the driven clutch would be nearly impossible to get to without removing the clutch. It's pretty well buried back there!

Absolutely no idea whatsoever. It was owned by a city maintenance department. Aside from lots of general wear and tear, it appears to have been maintained pretty well over its life.

If you're at 118psi that's pretty low. Unless it has ACR, it should be around 165ish for a healthy motor. There should be a yellow sticker on the top of the motor that says NO ACR or something to that effect. If it's a 290 I'd try adjusting the valves and see if that bumps it up some.

I'm trying to upload the pictures so they're in order of sequencing. Repair manuals are great for someone familiar with following them, but sometimes "layman's terms" and regular photos are better than line art and tech terms. I had originally thought of doing it as a YouTube video, but that's not really something I had the motivation for. And also, because I like to listen to my tunes while I work I'm not a big talker. I'd rather just take some pictures along the way. Maybe I'll post a quick video once it's done :)

I think this format is great. I prefer written guides over videos for any project. Much easier to find what you’re looking for, and no fighting with pausing it.

Ok, been waiting for parts to arrive. Showed up today

While waiting, I cleaned out the rest of the nest. Luckily nothing was still living in there lol. And the sludge caked nicely all over everything.

I'll try and get out tonight and put everything back together. Lots of steps and pics to follow :)
