Re: Purified vs. Distilled Water
If I had one cart, I would probably use distilled water.
The biggest killer of batteries I've seen, is not enough or, too much water. If it boils out you are diluting the electrolite, Not enough and you burn the plates rendering them useless. I did say," I'm not telling you to use tap water" Twice. THere was a reason for that. Beleive it or not, the ez go fleet mechanic does the same thing |

Re: Purified vs. Distilled Water
Here's some info from a CC manual. 1997. My camera is not working right. This is what it says....
"Mineral Content For the longest battery life, distilled water should be used in the battery. However, if tap water is to be used, contact your local water department to be sure the mineral contents are below the levels listed in the table. Impurity Allowable content (PPM) SUSPUNDED MATTER trace TOTAL SOLIDS 100 CALCIUM,MAG OXIDES 40.0 IRON 5.0 AMMONIA 8.0 ORGANIC MATTER 50.0 NITRATES 10.0 NITRITES 5.0 CHLORINE 5.0 note: contact your local water department formineral content analysis." Someone make a sticky of this. Please. I don't want to write it again. |

Re: Purified vs. Distilled Water
Well, I knew that wouldn't get new members to join my fan club. When FD mentioned the CC manual, I recalled where I had seen this info.(at a two day training course) It would have been safer to stay with the distilled water theory. I was taught distilled only when I was 13, also.
This a great site with good information, I just wanted to make ALL the information available........... thank you, tony Oh. I still didn't tell anyone to use tap water |

Maybe call it; “What’s On Tap!” or “Don’t Dis for RO Baby!... jus say'n It's all good Tony You brought to the table your opinion and knowledge. If you look at Roady89's Battery Maintanance Sticky in Electric Club Car it states: "Use only distilled, deionized or demineralized water to replace the lost water in batteries. Using tap water from homes or buisnesses can produce calcium or magnesium sulfate crystals that can fill the pores and coat the plates therfore reducing battery life."
