From what I have seen in many videos online, the quality and capability of LiFePO4 cells is all over the map if you try to buy them yourself from Chinese vendors. Hopefully, the folks that are building drop-ins are able to source high quality unused grade A cells. I have a feeling that many problems people are having is due to the way the BMS is set up.
Also, we probably have skewed data here because there are lots of satisfied customers that are not having problems with their batteries. I know several folks here that did drop-ins over a year ago and none of them have had any issues other than letting the battery run down too low and shut off on them. |

Yep, purchasing from Aliexpress or Alibaba as a retail customer is very much a gamble. You don't know exactly what you're going to get, even if they're advertised as brand new A grade cells.
A wholesale customer would have more pull with the Chinese vendors as they want the return business. They would also have access to the latest cells with Aliexpress being the dumping ground for last years tech. |
