Re: 1995 EZ GO runs rough, no power
If you are seeing flames in the carb could be a bad intake valve.

Re: 1995 EZ GO runs rough, no power
I’m with CP241 on the timing belt. I loosened the cover, and it seemed OK. I’m leaning towards a burned valve, but the good compression sort of makes me think about that. Now a ton of carbon in the CC and exhaust, good possibility. Can’t go too far until I can get the clutch off the crankshaft. I ordered a puller on flea bay, wasn’t much. Will need advice about pulling the clutch so all the other stuff can come off to get the head off.
Anyone know a good machine shop that specializes in these head rebuilds? All our shops around here are backed up. My favorite shop has my LS7 heads waiting 3 months for their turn on the machines. They said no more work- they are slammed. |

You still haven’t answered about the valve threads showing.

About a 1/4” above the locking nut for all 4 valves. They are within a thread or two to be the same. I’ve adjusted the valves several times over the years, and they were consistently off the same and took the same adjustment. I was aware of the issue with the intake valves and kept an eye out.

Re: 1995 EZ GO runs rough, no power
Ok good to rule that out
maybe we should step back a bit Before tearing the engine out… How do the spark plugs look? Have you tried to run the motor in the dark and make sure the wires or coil aren’t arcing somewhere they shouldn’t and maybe the spark isn’t actually making it to the plug? I had a club car do this to me once before |

Re: 1995 EZ GO runs rough, no power
Plugs are black and somewhat damp with gas. I have two sets, but both are that way, so I need to buy a fresh set. Since swapping plugs didn’t move the problem to the other cylinder, and cleaning the plugs with carb cleaner no help, I put plugs as a to-do for the moment.
We have the remnants of the hurricane here in NC, and the cart is outside in a soaking rain. I’m off to VIR for the weekend, so it will be next week. I see a consistent spark at both plugs when grounded, and I’ve swapped plugs with spares, and no Bueno. I guess since it is waste spark, I could swap plug wires at the coil as well as a check. Carbon tracks have taken out many a car, especially damp weather. Will follow your advice Monday night. Thanks so much! |

Re: 1995 EZ GO runs rough, no power
Just make a clutch puller.. use a 3/4 fine thread bolt 2 inches long and piece of 1/2 or 5/8 round bar 4" long
