Re: Club Car Throttle cable
I know it's a pain in the behind but could you check the flywheel key to see if it is partially sheared and could have advanced the timing abit?

Re: Club Car Throttle cable
I'm not sure how to go about checking the fly wheel pin. I think I would trade the cart off befor I take the flywheel housing off again! I was wondering if there is a method of checking the timing or if it is a factory setting. Looks solid by the way the coil is attached.

Re: Club Car Throttle cable
The coil is in a fixed position other that being able to move up and down to adjust the air gap.
The only way to alter the timing is to have a partially sheared flywheel key between the crankshaft and flywheel. That's why I was asking, just wondering if possible and timing could be advanced. Jim, After all of this, When I get stuck on something, I step back and review the 4 basic principles of an internal combustion engine. Intake/Fuel, Compression, Ignition, Exhaust. I'm sticking with a fuel related problem. No fuel, no run on, It's got to be fuel getting into the cylinder to cause it to run on. . |

Re: Club Car Throttle cable
At this time I would take the carb off and take it down to bare casting and clean it.
Remember 1978 79 Fords were so lean they would run backwards when you shut them off and the exhaust would burn your eyes. I think there may be some junk in the carb and it is lean. |

Re: Club Car Throttle cable
I agree. I'm not giving up on this. It probably somthing simple as you say. I haven't tried the Sea Foam yet. The weather looks like snow. Will be next week befor I get around to working on the cart. When it's warm I usually go golfing and work on the cart afterwards.
Thanks for the help I'll Keep you guys posted. |
